01. OVERVIEW
The design for the Together app centres around enhancing collaboration and communication for co-parents. By addressing specific challenges they face, the app aims to simplify interactions and improve overall co-parenting experiences. The goal is to create a user-friendly platform that not only facilitates scheduling and communication but also enhances a sense of partnership between co-parents, ultimately benefiting the children involved.
02. PROBLEM
Co-parents often struggle with coordinating schedules, leading to conflicts and missed important events. This lack of synchronisation can create tension and frustration. Additionally, unclear communication can result in misunderstandings, making co-parenting more challenging and emotionally taxing. Lastly, sharing and accessing important documents can be inconvenient, adding unnecessary stress to their interactions and potentially impacting the well-being of their children.
03. DESIGN PROCESS
To ensure a user-centric approach, we employed the design thinking methodology, which includes the following steps:
- Empathise: We conducted interviews and surveys with co-parents to gain insights into their experiences, challenges, and needs. This step allowed us to understand their emotions and perspectives deeply.
- Define: Based on our research, we defined the core problems faced by co-parents, focusing on scheduling conflicts, communication barriers, and document management issues.
- Ideate: We brainstormed potential solutions, encouraging creativity and collaboration among our design team. This phase generated a variety of ideas to address the identified problems.
-Prototype: We developed low-fidelity prototypes of the app features, such as the shared calendar, messaging system, and document repository. This allowed us to visualise our ideas and gather feedback.
- Test: We conducted usability testing with real co-parents to evaluate the prototypes. Their feedback guided further refinements, ensuring the final product meets their needs effectively.

04. SOLUTION & RESULTS
To tackle these issues, we propose implementing a shared calendar feature that allows co-parents to easily schedule and update events, complete with reminders and colour-coded differentiation for user-friendliness. For communication, a messaging feature will enable co-parents to send messages, share updates, and discuss matters, with added functionalities like read receipts and the ability to send attachments. Lastly, to improve document sharing, we will create a centralised space within the app where co-parents can easily access and share important documents, reducing hassle and stress. This comprehensive approach aims to foster better collaboration and enhance the co-parenting experience.
