01. PROJECT BRIEF

In the 2023 article by Nielsen, it is argued that the future of user experience (UX) lies in artificial intelligence (AI), while also highlighting the limitations of the current chat-based interaction style, which resembles instant messaging platforms like WhatsApp, Line, and Telegram. Nielsen points out a concerning reality: the interface we use to engage with advanced technology, such as ChatGPT, has remained largely unchanged for over a decade, restricting interactions to a single user at a time. This presents an opportunity for innovation, as the current setup only allows for individual communication with ChatGPT.

The assignment encourages creative redesign of the ChatGPT interface to facilitate richer AI-mediated communication. One proposed improvement is to enable multiple users to interact with ChatGPT simultaneously, enhancing collaborative experiences. Additionally, the integration of ChatGPT within existing instant messaging platforms, such as Microsoft Teams, presents another avenue for development. Microsoft’s recent integration of Copilot into Office software, including Teams, showcases new functionalities that could be further refined.

02. SOLUTION & RESULTS

The new design features a dynamic layout that allows multiple users to engage with ChatGPT simultaneously. One of the key elements is the group chat option, where users can see each other’s inputs and the responses from ChatGPT in real-time, which significantly enhances collaboration.

Additionally, I've integrated ChatGPT into popular messaging platforms like Microsoft Teams. This makes it easier for users to access ChatGPT's capabilities within a familiar environment, boosting productivity and streamlining communication during collaborative tasks.

To help visualize these changes, I've created mockups and prototypes that showcase the user interaction flow. These include wireframes that illustrate how conversations would unfold in a group setting. I’ve also developed use case scenarios that demonstrate how different users can benefit from this collaborative approach, such as teams brainstorming project ideas or students working together on assignments.

The expected results from these redesigned interfaces include improved user engagement and more effective collaboration. By enabling multiple users to interact with ChatGPT at once, we can gather diverse insights and simlpify a collaborative environment that leads to better outcomes in various contexts, whether it’s for team projects or educational purposes.
